YES Birding on Whitaker Preserve Event Information: (2 hours / Easy) Flat grasslands are an amazing spot for kids AND birds!  The Land Trust manages the Roy B. Whitaker Paint Rock River Preserve for The Nature Conservancy in Alabama. John Ehinger is an enthusiastic birdwatcher, hiker, bicyclist, and paddler. John served as the editorial page editor for the Huntsville Times and wrote a regular birding column as well as an online birding blog at al.com.   Please - no dogs on this hike. Directions:  Meet at Hardee’s in Gurley, 5972 Hwy 72 East Hwy 72, at  7:45 am.  We’ll caravan up Highway 72 to the Whitaker Preserve. Discover 60+ miles of Land Trust Trails with us this fall. These FREE hikes offer natural beauty and exercise for the entire family!
